Faina Khait received a Bachelors degree in Studio Arts at University of California, Santa Barbara. Her mentors included Gary Brown, Laurel Beckman, Jane Callister and Jessica Irish.

Although Faina's emphasis was in Digital Media - primarily web and graphics design - the emphasis on composition, function and form is seen throughout her work, from figure drawings to corporate website design.

A number of years after receiving her degree, and well established in a design career, Faina found herself drawn back into the physical aspect of art making - wielding the brush, mixing the the elusive color and to rinsing paint splatters off clothing.

Currently interested in landscapes, Faina employees the Wet on Wet oil technique where the canvass is slicked with a priming agent enabling to apply paint in layers in one sitting.

"Working with landscapes really opened my eyes to the world around me.
Since half the time I don't have a camera to capture the perfect image, I am often found intensely staring at something - a tree, a rock, a great cloud formation."
